What counts as a segment

Networks bill text in segments, not messages. One segment is 160 characters of plain text. A message longer than that is split, and each part carries a little header, so the limit drops to 153 characters per segment.

Accented and non-Latin characters need a different alphabet, and that alphabet fits only 70 characters per segment. A single é, ł, or emoji anywhere in the message applies that limit to the whole of it — so the same reminder can cost twice as much in Polish or Greek as it does in English. The app shows you the segment count as you type.

Reminders and replies

Reminders go out under your business name and cost nothing monthly — you pay for what you send and nothing else. Customers cannot reply to them.

Two-way gives you a real phone number, so replies come back into the job they belong to. That number is rented monthly whether or not you use it, which is what the monthly minimum above covers — send more than it in a month and you simply pay for what you sent.

Keeping the bill predictable

Every account has a monthly limit you set. Sending stops when it is reached rather than running on, and you are warned before you get there. You can raise or remove it whenever you like.
